Alphabet Trims Cloud Unit Jobs Amid AI Infrastructure Push
Alphabet Inc. has eliminated over 100 design-focused positions within its cloud computing division, targeting teams responsible for user behavior analysis through data and surveys. The cuts reduce certain U.S.-based design teams by 50%, with affected employees given until December to secure internal transfers.
The restructuring reflects a strategic shift toward artificial intelligence investments, following earlier voluntary buyouts across HR, hardware, and finance divisions. Alphabet plans to channel $85 billion into AI and cloud infrastructure development, having already reduced managerial layers overseeing small teams by more than a third this year.
